The market right now
Coaching income is almost entirely a function of client supply. Independent coaches routinely quote £60 to £90 an hour but bill far fewer hours than they would like. Roles that supply the clients are worth materially more than the headline rate suggests.
Accreditation matters for credibility with clinical referrers. ICF, UKIHCA or an equivalent recognised qualification is the threshold, and coaches working alongside clinicians need to be clear about scope - coaching supports behaviour change, it does not diagnose or treat.
Sleep coaching has emerged as the strongest single niche, largely because CBT-I trained coaches can deliver a structured, evidenced protocol with measurable outcomes.
