What moves the number
- BABCP accreditation, which is effectively required for insurer and clinic referrals.
- Supervisor training, which adds a second income stream and is a route to Band 8a.
- Specialist protocols: trauma-focused CBT, health anxiety and insomnia all attract higher-value referrals.
- Perimenopause and PMDD competence, where CBT has real evidence and very few practitioners have specific experience.
- Remote delivery, which lets you fill a caseload from the whole UK rather than one town.
Why women's health pays differently
CBT for menopausal symptoms is recommended in UK guidance, yet almost no therapists advertise it specifically. There is a genuine gap between the guidance and the workforce, and therapists who can hold both the hormonal picture and the CBT protocol are being paid at the top of the private range.
