Why this role exists

Women's health events are psychological events. Miscarriage, a difficult birth, an early menopause, a diagnosis at forty: each reshapes identity, and each is routinely treated as purely medical. Counselling attached directly to the clinical pathway catches women at the moment it matters.

Who you would be looking after

Women across the adult span dealing with fertility difficulty, pregnancy loss, birth trauma, postnatal adjustment, menopause-related mood change, and adjustment to a late neurodevelopmental diagnosis.

A day in the diary

• Four to ten 50 minute sessions, entirely self-scheduled
• Open-ended or block work depending on the presentation
• Direct route back to the referring clinician where medical review is needed
• Monthly reflective practice group, optional and paid

What the work involves

• Provide individual counselling to women referred from our clinical pathways
• Work with loss, trauma and identity change alongside practical adjustment
• Recognise when a presentation needs medical or psychiatric review, and route it
• Keep concise, secure records within our clinical system

What we ask for

• BACP, UKCP or NCPS registration with accreditation, or working towards it
• Two years or more post-qualification practice
• Experience in at least one of: fertility, perinatal, bereavement, or menopause
• Your own clinical supervision in place

What this pays, and why

UK private counselling self-pay rates run £50 to £90 a session. Counselling platforms typically pay £25 to £45. We sit near the self-pay rate because referrals come from our own clinical pathway rather than paid acquisition.
