Why this role exists
Women are routinely treated for depression when the pattern is cyclical, hormonal or neurodevelopmental. We wanted psychologists who formulate across those lines instead of applying one protocol to everyone.
Who you would be looking after
Women aged 25 to 60 with PMDD, perimenopausal mood change, birth trauma, and emotional dysregulation linked to late-diagnosed ADHD or autism.
A day in the diary
- Four to five therapy hours a day, capped
- One assessment and formulation slot a week
- Fortnightly peer supervision with the psychology team
- Protected note and letter time, paid, not evenings
What the work involves
- Assess, formulate and deliver individual therapy across modalities
- Work alongside our menopause GPs where medication and therapy interact
- Contribute to our PMDD and perimenopause clinical protocols
- Supervise assistant psychologists and trainees
What we ask for
- HCPC registration as a practitioner psychologist
- Doctorate in clinical or counselling psychology
- Experience with trauma-focused or cyclical mood presentations
- Enhanced DBS, which we can arrange

What this pays, and why
NHS band 8a psychology runs roughly £53,000 to £60,000. Independent practice can pay more per hour but carries admin, marketing and no leave. Our band sits above 8a with the caseload capped.

Fortnightly peer supervision is included and we fund external clinical supervision of your choosing.
