How to become a practice nurse in the UK
In short
You need NMC registration as a nurse. Beyond that, practice nursing is a move rather than a separate qualification: most nurses join through a general practice nurse foundation programme or a trainee practice nurse post, then add cervical screening, contraception and immunisation training in post.
How long it takes
Three years to register as a nurse, then six to twelve months to become fully autonomous in a practice nurse role.

Usually nothing. Practices and training hubs normally fund the foundation programme and skills training in exchange for a period in post.
