    Why this role exists

    Scanning is where a lot of women's health finally becomes visible: fibroids, adenomyosis, endometriomas, polycystic morphology. Rushed lists produce reports that answer the referral question and miss everything else. Longer slots find more.

    Who you would be looking after

    Women with pelvic pain, heavy or irregular bleeding, suspected endometriosis or PCOS, fertility investigation, and early pregnancy concern.

    A day in the diary

    • Twelve to fourteen 30 minute scans a day, capped
    • Direct reporting, with time built in for it
    • A weekly complex case review with the medical team
    • Protected audit and CPD time monthly

    What the work involves

    • Perform transabdominal and transvaginal gynaecological and early pregnancy scanning
    • Report independently to an agreed standard
    • Explain findings to the woman at the time, not only in a letter
    • Escalate concerning findings immediately through a defined route

    What we ask for

    • HCPC registration and a PgD or equivalent in medical ultrasound
    • Gynaecological and early pregnancy scanning competence
    • Ability to deliver difficult findings with care
    • Enhanced DBS
