    Why this role exists

    A scan is often the moment a woman finally gets an answer, or the moment she gets frightening news. Fifteen minute slots make both go badly. We built the list around thirty.

    Who you would be looking after

    Women attending for early pregnancy scans, pelvic and transvaginal imaging, fibroid and ovarian assessment, and follicle tracking.

    A day in the diary

    • Ten to twelve scans a day at 30 minutes each
    • Reporting time built into each slot, not stacked at the end
    • A weekly multidisciplinary review with the gynaecology team
    • Audit and image quality time each month

    What the work involves

    • Perform transabdominal and transvaginal gynaecological ultrasound
    • Carry out early pregnancy and reassurance scanning, including managing bad news well
    • Report independently to agreed protocols
    • Support follicle tracking for women in fertility pathways

    What we ask for

    • CASE-accredited postgraduate ultrasound qualification
    • HCPC registration where your route requires it
    • Competence in obstetric and gynaecological imaging
    • Enhanced DBS, which we can arrange

    What you get

    • Pension, 33 days leave including bank holidays, and a CPD budget

    What this pays, and why

    NHS band 7 sonographer roles run roughly £46,000 to £53,000, with recruitment premiums in some trusts. Independent providers pay £55,000 to £70,000. Our band sits in that private range with a lighter list.
