The short version

Why this role exists
British postnatal care effectively ends at six weeks, which is roughly when the real problems begin. Pelvic floor dysfunction, back pain, thyroid change, iron depletion and mood disorder are all common at three to twelve months and almost entirely unmanaged.
Who you would be looking after
Women from six weeks to two years after birth, including after caesarean, third and fourth degree tears, and difficult births.
A day in the diary
- Pathway and protocol work, plus MDT coordination
- A clinical list of complex postnatal cases
- Supervision of physiotherapy, nutrition and psychology input
- Monthly outcomes review
What the work involves
- Design and own the postnatal recovery pathway across disciplines
- Coordinate pelvic health, nutrition, psychology and medical input into one plan
- Supervise the clinicians delivering it
- Set and review outcome measures that mean something to the women in it
What we ask for
- Senior midwifery, obstetric, GP or physiotherapy background with postnatal specialism
- Experience running a multidisciplinary service
- Comfort designing something that does not exist yet
What you get
- Three days a week with real authority
- A multidisciplinary team already in place
- Named lead credit on the pathway
What this pays, and why
Equivalent NHS Band 8a to 8b leadership runs £55,690 to £75,405. Our band sits at the top of that range pro rata, reflecting that this is a build rather than a maintain role.

How hiring works here
- You send your details. No agency screening call before anyone clinical has read them.
- A clinician from the relevant pathway calls you within five working days.
- A working conversation about how you would handle two real cases.
- Registration and references checked, then a start date that works around your existing commitments.
Questions clinicians ask about this role
