PMDD clinical lead
Build our PMDD pathway end to end, from symptom tracking through to treatment and review.
The short version
A part-time PMDD clinical lead role paying £75,000 to £95,000 pro rata, London or remote, two to three days a week. You design and own the PMDD pathway: assessment protocol, treatment escalation, supervision and outcomes.
- Pay
- £75,000 to £95,000 pro rata
- Location
- London or remote
- Contract
- Part-time
- Working pattern
- Hybrid
- Hours
- Two or three days a week
- Start
- November 2026
Why this role exists
PMDD is under-diagnosed, under-treated and badly served by generic mental health pathways. Women wait an average of twelve years for the diagnosis and are frequently treated for bipolar disorder in the meantime. We are building a dedicated pathway and need a clinician to own it rather than advise on it.
Who you would be looking after
Women with severe cyclical mood and physical symptoms, often previously treated as bipolar disorder or treatment-resistant depression.
A day in the diary
- Pathway design and protocol work, roughly half the role
- A clinical list of complex PMDD cases, roughly a third
- Supervision of the clinicians delivering the pathway
- Quarterly outcome review and content sign-off
What the work involves
- Design the assessment protocol, including prospective two-cycle symptom tracking
- Set treatment escalation from lifestyle and SSRIs through to hormonal options and referral
- Supervise the clinicians delivering the pathway and review outcomes quarterly
- Sign off the patient-facing content so what we publish matches what we practise
What we ask for
- Consultant-level psychiatry, gynaecology or GP background with real PMDD caseload experience
- Published, taught or built in this area before
- Willingness to state clearly what the evidence does not yet support
What you get
- Two or three days a week with genuine authority over the pathway
- Direct work with our clinical governance and content teams
- Named clinical lead credit on the pathway
What this pays, and why
NHS consultant pay runs £109,725 to £145,478 full-time in 2026. Our pro rata band is below that headline deliberately, because two or three days here is designed to sit alongside an NHS or private commitment rather than replace it.
How hiring works here
- You send your details. No agency screening call before anyone clinical has read them.
- A clinician from the relevant pathway calls you within five working days.
- A working conversation about how you would handle two real cases.
- Registration and references checked, then a start date that works around your existing commitments.
Questions clinicians ask about this role
Is this a clinical or a strategic role?
Both, roughly half and half. We do not want a pathway designed by someone who is not also seeing the patients.
What authority does the lead actually have?
Final clinical sign-off on the pathway, the protocols and the patient-facing content. Commercial decisions stay with the executive team.
Can this be done fully remotely?
Yes, with occasional London days for governance meetings.
