Why this role exists
Waits for coil fitting and endometriosis review are the two complaints we hear most. A nurse-led list clears both faster than a consultant-only model, and women prefer the continuity.
Who you would be looking after
Women referred for contraception procedures, heavy menstrual bleeding, suspected endometriosis, and post-procedure follow-up.
A day in the diary
- A procedure list of six to eight coil or implant fittings
- An endometriosis review clinic with 30 minute appointments
- Support in outpatient hysteroscopy sessions
- Named contact time for your caseload, protected in the diary
What the work involves
- Fit and remove intrauterine devices and subdermal implants
- Assist and chaperone in outpatient hysteroscopy and colposcopy
- Hold a named endometriosis and heavy bleeding caseload
- Run pre-procedure counselling so consent is genuine, not a signature
What we ask for
- NMC registration with a current PIN
- FSRH Letters of Competence in IUT and SDI, or willingness to complete them
- Gynaecology, sexual health or theatre experience
- Enhanced DBS, which we can arrange
