    Why this role exists

Most of the work in menopause care is not the first prescription, it is the next three months. Roughly half of women stop HRT within a year, usually because a side effect was never reviewed. This role owns that stretch.

Who you would be looking after

Women already started on HRT, women switching route or preparation, and women managing menopause alongside ADHD or a long-term condition.

    A day in the diary

    • Ten to twelve 20 minute review appointments per day, capped
    • A named supervising clinician reachable the same day for anything outside scope
    • Protected time for prescribing records and shared-care letters
    • Fortnightly team review of women who have stopped treatment, to find out why

    What the work involves

    • Run review and titration clinics with a named supervising clinician available the same day
    • Manage side effects, bleeding patterns and adherence, escalating where the picture changes
    • Keep prescribing records and shared-care letters clean and current
    • Feed recurring problems back into how we write our patient guidance

    What we ask for

    • NMC registration and an independent prescribing qualification in good standing
    • Two years or more in women's health, gynaecology or primary care
    • Confidence saying when something falls outside your scope

    What you get

    • Fixed sessions, three or four days a week
    • Supervision built into the rota rather than borrowed from goodwill
    • Funded menopause CPD

    What this pays, and why

This sits above NHS Band 7 (£46,148 to £52,809 in 2026) at the top of the band, with the difference being caseload control and no on-call. Independent prescriber roles in private menopause clinics commonly pay £45,000 to £60,000.

    How hiring works here

    1. You send your details. No agency screening call before anyone clinical has read them.
    2. A clinician from the relevant pathway calls you within five working days.
    3. A working conversation about how you would handle two real cases.
    4. Registration and references checked, then a start date that works around your existing commitments.

Questions clinicians ask about this role

Do I need menopause-specific training already?

Independent prescribing plus women's health experience is the threshold. We fund BMS or equivalent menopause training in your first six months if you do not have it.

    What supervision is in place?

A named supervising GP or consultant is rostered on every clinic day and reachable in real time, plus a monthly formal supervision hour.

    Is this employed or self-employed?

Employed, part-time, with pension and paid leave pro rata.
