Why this role exists
Advanced practice is where women's health capacity actually comes from. An ANP who can assess, examine, prescribe and review closes most women's problems without a doctor in the loop, and does it with more time than a GP list allows.
Who you would be looking after
Women across the adult span, weighted towards cycle disorders, contraception, perimenopause and the first two years after birth.
A day in the diary
- Nine 30 minute appointments per day, mixed new and review
- One protected slot for complex cases needing longer
- Direct escalation route to the medical team, same day
- Weekly time for audit and pathway work
What the work involves
- Assess, examine, investigate and prescribe autonomously within an agreed scope
- Hold your own caseload with continuity, rather than working a triage queue
- Run nurse-led clinics in contraception, menopause review and postnatal recovery
- Contribute to pathway design and audit
What we ask for
- NMC registration, MSc-level advanced practice, and independent prescribing
- Clinical examination skills and confidence working autonomously
- Women's health, sexual health or primary care background
