DR.VEGAN PMS Hero
Chasteberry and B6 are the ingredients with premenstrual evidence, and this includes both. It is a reasonable three-month trial for mild to moderate symptoms; severe monthly mood collapse is PMDD and needs a clinical assessment instead.
Pros
- +Includes chasteberry and B6
Cons
- -Not appropriate for PMDD
- -Ashwagandha unsuitable with thyroid medication
Evidence
B6 has some evidence for premenstrual symptoms at 50 to 100mg daily. Sustained high doses can cause nerve damage. Magnesium has reasonable evidence for sleep quality and muscle cramps, and glycinate is the form best tolerated by the gut. It is not a treatment for anxiety or hormonal symptoms. Short trials suggest small reductions in perceived stress and better sleep quality. Long-term safety data is limited and liver injury has been reported rarely.
Dose
Two capsules daily through the cycle
